K&L Gates Boosts Corporate Practice with Palo Alto Partner Addition

February 18, 2010

Palo Alto— The Palo Alto office of global law firm K&L Gates LLP welcomes David I. Frazee as a partner in its corporate practice. Frazee joins K&L Gates from Perkins Coie LLP.

Frazee represents innovative technology companies and funds, helping them succeed through the creation and execution of comprehensive international corporate, business, and intellectual property strategies. He counsels clients from formation, financings, and commercial transactions through initial public offerings and merger and acquisition transactions, and has represented clients in connection with debt and equity investments exceeding $750 million.

In addition, Frazee brings valuable international experience, having advised on more than 100 cross-border transactions, often involving Greater China. He regularly counsels clients on their intellectual property assets and offers a real-world understanding of the unique business challenges of emerging growth companies, having served as a former general counsel of two technology start-ups — one of which he led through its initial public offering.

“Given his experience in corporate finance, international transactions, and intellectual property, David is a unique talent among the up and coming cadre of highly successful young lawyers in the Silicon Valley,” said Jon Michaelson, Administrative Partner of K&L Gates’ Palo Alto office. “His client base of companies in California, throughout the U.S., and overseas, especially in Asia, is a great match with the firm’s expanding global platform.”

K&L Gates Chairman and Global Managing Partner Peter J. Kalis said: “With David’s arrival, we broaden the focus of our Palo Alto office’s corporate practice, and K&L Gates’ firmwide corporate, securities and M&A practice takes another step forward.”

In January, K&L Gates’ Palo Alto office also welcomed intellectual property litigation partners Karineh Khachatourian and Bryan J. Sinclair, who joined the firm from Mintz Levin Cohn Ferris Glovsky and Popeo P.C.
